DraftSight 2026 has added a host of new features and enhancements to improve your productivity. Most of these features dropped during the 2026 launch, but keep your eye open for future enhancements through service pack releases.
While some of these features are reserved for the higher-level DraftSight Premium and Mechanical licenses, the most impactful enhancements are available to all users in the DraftSight family.
Improved DraftSight Performance
The most impactful update to DraftSight 2026 is that they’ve made the software even faster. Opening times, switching between sheets, zooming, and panning have all been improved.
Here are reported speed increases by category:
- Switching from Sheet Space to Model Space has improved by 78% on average.
- Switching to a Sheet has improved by 66% on average.
- Zoom Performance has improved by up to 55%.
- Pan Performance has improved by roughly 38%.
- Opening times have improved by 10% on average.
These values are going to vary from one system and one drawing to another, but those are still impressive numbers.
Ribbon Optimization
There have been additional improvements in the layout of ribbon tabs added to DraftSight 2026.

They made an effort to reduce clutter and spread commands out across more tabs to improve the overall user interface. Above is an example of how the Home tab looks in DraftSight 2026.
Hatch Creation Ribbon
Now, the HATCH and FILLAREA commands both take you to the same Hatch Creation ribbon.

The ribbon allows you to create hatches, solid color fills, and one or two-color gradients all in one place with many options to customize your hatching. Selecting an existing hatch or fill takes you to the nearly identical Hatch Editor ribbon, where you can easily make changes.
Enhanced ViewTiles Controls
Whether you’re in Model or Sheet space, you can access ViewTile controls in the upper-left corner.
You can change views, visual styles, and display options quickly by clicking bracketed text. Personally, I think this is a fantastic improvement which is going to make finding and managing these settings a lot easier.
ECW Image Format
DraftSight now supports the Hexagon Enhanced Compression Wavelet (.ECW) image file format.
These images are frequently used for aerial and satellite photography in Geographic Information System (GIS) applications, as well as remote sensing applications. This will be a tremendous help to those who need to map sites by tracing over images.
CCS Icon Customization
The CCS/UCS Icon is now more customizable.
UCS Icon Properties
The command CSICON now includes a Properties option. Entering P at the command line brings up a dialog box allowing you to change the icon’s size, color, and view.
DIESEL Expressions
Direct Interpretively Evaluated String Expression Language, or DIESEL expressions for short, are now available in DraftSight 2026.
This scripting and macro language is for simple text-based customization. It lacks the robustness of LISP routines, for example, but is embedded in the drawing file itself, so it does not require access to a separate file to function.
Creating a DIESEL expression from a note
DIESEL expressions are good at quick display-only logic. They don’t handle entity creation, loops, or custom commands. As an addition to the FIELD command, they make a lot of things possible.
NOTE Command Additions
The NOTE command now allows you to create and edit multiple columns within a single Note entity.
Using the Edit Note toolbar, you can make columns equal in width and control the spacing between columns, known as gutters. You can also adjust the height with grips.
Copying with the SCALE Command
The SCALE command now includes a Copy option.
Previously, if you wanted to copy a selection set and then change the scale of the copies, you’d have to first use the COPY command, then use the SCALE command, reselecting the entities and your base point. With DraftSight 2026, you can do both with just one command and an option with no need to reselect anything.
Why You Should Upgrade to DraftSight 2026
With all the enhancements to DraftSight 2026, there is something for everyone to be excited about. Keep in mind that these are only the additions during the initial release, and the DraftSight team is hard at work to add new features and functionality through future service packs.

A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.
In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.
The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
